It seems like years since I wrote any bookish diary. The names sounds so funny. So very funny. Maybe I will change it to something more interesting. It’s not just about the thoughts I get from reading one book. It’s like, the whole lot of thoughts that gather into my mind after days and days of reading different things, going through different situations and living every day of life.

What does life mean? A human is born from another human. He/she grows up seeing and learning from the surroundings. He/she studies, applies for a job, gets a job, finds someone suitable to spend the rest of the life with, has children, a family, goes on with the daily chores till the last breath. Where is life in there? Where did you see a speck of life? A sign that the person is alive? When do we really feel alive? Through daily chores and duties? Through job? Doesn’t the heart ever want to take a rest from all that? I wonder…..Yes…I do wonder.

Review :

When we come across story books based on bravery, it is always a gallant, invincible, handsome man who is the leading character and the representative of strength and bravery. To come across ass kicking dragon slayer is very rare that also a woman!

The story begins with Henrietta, the legendary Dragon Slayer being almost forced by Sir Franc, knight to the Royal and Mighty King Singfan de Plumare de’Oro, the First, to come out of her life of retirement into dragon slaying once again. She gets mocked by him, is accused of false storytelling yet doesn’t agree to accompany him. However, she is that very night informed of her master’s illness. The solution leading to the same tasked the knight wishes her to assign to. She takes a little witch, Paulette along with her, whom she is supposed to drop to her own village on the way,  and starts for the journey but is joined unwilling to her choice by the knight, Franc and the jester (an old friend of Franc and admirer of Henrietta), Jexter; all towards the way hunt for Dracontias – Franc’s has demanded for it and Henrietta is in need of it to save her dying mentor.

As they travel far and across lands, they face danger, betrayal, killing and misery. But the new found bond between the four is unbreakable. The betrayal makes Henrietta doubts King Singfan’s aims in getting hold of the Dracontias yet she does not back up. She hears the Guardians of the Dracontias to recognise herself, to save all. Though she enters the palace and confirms the deal with the King she senses immense danger and before killing the Dragon she backs off.

What happens next is not my tale to tell but the reader’s curiosity to discover.

This book kept me glued till the end and keep my heart beating fast. I totally am in love with the pairing of Franc and Henrietta cause why should I? It’s so exciting! Thanks to the author for introducing me to such a luscious, exciting, adventurous read. Can’t wait to dig into the next book.

For those who love kick ass female lead characters with great adventure and fights as also some romance to brighten up the mood, I totally recommend it.

Review :

To write a debut novel is to present to the world your perspective and thought stream. It should be such which can be acknowledged by the people and arouse their interest. To write a debut novel, one has to go through immense struggle. Starting with the skeleton of a novel – the plot, which is to be prepared over quite a long course of time. With the plot changes colours, addition and disposal of characters and many more. Then comes the format of writing, the grammer, the word choice, the author’s unique taste.

Jahnavi Chowdary’s The Secret of Tomorrow is her debut novel which may sound like another cheesy love story while reading the synopsis. However I can guarantee you that it is dominated by the main character Neethu and her struggle to get together her father’s business after his death.

Siddharth is Neethu’s boyfriend whom she had met in between a cluster of foreign people, someone of her country, someone to call her own. Her life goes well and good but suddenly thunder strikes with her father being murdered and the company being handed over to her. She doesn’t let Siddharth know about it to let him not get stressed over her. No sooner had she got a little chance to grieve for her father than she is burdened with responsibilities. Men seem uncomfortable with the fact that a girl will run the company but she is ready to fight and make her mark. With her getting deeply involved in the company, she finds a loop hole in the financial condition and decides to find the source of the problem and solve it. The more she tries, the more dark secrets open up. And once the dark secrets are out her life is in danger.

Will she be able to solve the problem while fighting to get out of the danger? Will the world of men accept her as their boss?

The book points out a very interesting fact of present society. Men consider themselves worthy of working under a male boss then a female. This is one of the problems working women still have to face. With all the preaching going on and on about gender equality to be existing, women still have to fight hard to make a mark.

The plot is very interesting and inspiring. The writing pattern and choice of words need improvement. However, let me tell you this – the author has published an unedited novel. Yes!
